       defective remote sensor
    Comment:
I bought a nearly identical model a few months ago and I've finally given up on it. What I first believed to be just bad luck on my part in getting a defective sensor turns out not be the case. I say this because the remote sensor on this model is identical to mine and I had the exact same problems noted by several reviewers here. After I gave up on mine and decided to replace it I began checking out what Amazon had to offer. I didn't realize this one was made by the same company that made mine until I began reading the reviews. In fact, mine is almost identical to this model. I assume La Crosse manufacturers them for entities such as the Weather Channel as well as selling them under their own name. For those who have yet to choose a specific brand or model I want to take a minute to explain why having problems with a remote sensor can be such a hassle. To obtain the most accurate information, a weather station remote sensor needs to be installed in a location that does not get any direct sunlight throughout the day and in addition it must be sheltered from direct precipitation. In my case that meant at a corner of my house that was behind some dense shrubbery and in a place that was rather difficult to reach. This would be no problem if it was only required for the initial installation and then once a year to change the batteries. But when there is a problem the whole system needs to be reset it requires access to the sensor. I did this three times during a period when temperatures ranged from the high-teens to mid-thirty's and I'm getting too old to be crawling under shrubs regardless of the temperature. I wanted to add my review so everyone shopping for a weather station is aware that the complaints listed in these reviews are not some sort of fluke associated just with this model, rather it appears to be a wider quality control issue on the part of La Crosse. And I'll add a ditto to all the comments regarding their customer support/service. There is nothing more aggravating than not being able to get through on the phone regardless of what time you call or how many times in a row you try calling. The same holds true for their fancy email support system that prompts you to fill out about a page worth of stuff only to have them not reply. Oh, and one more thing - and this is probably says more about La Crosse than everything else I've said - I was in Walmart two days ago and noticed the La Crosse weather stations were deeply discounted and in a special "clearance" section.

    Comment:
My wife gave me this as a give 13 months ago and I had nothing but issues with it.. Cant register and finally did and if your router resets you have to go through the entire process again and if your lucky it will work.. 10 months into my sensor went... Tech support is the worst in my history of dealing with anyone.. Not worth the money or the hassle.. I finally gave up and filed it under "TRASH"!!!

Wrong weather - better off going on line
    Comment:
I bought one of these units last christmas and the weather is always about 10 degrees off - year round. I have contacted them numerous times and you can never get through (due to overwhelming demand they say - probably due to all the complaints). Through email they tell me that they are resubmitting information to their meteorologist. I don't understand why they can't figure out the weather when I can go to any weather website and get the correct weather. They keep emailing updates that their meteoroligist is working on it. It has been almost a year and they still can't figure out how to make the unit tell the right weather.

       Good Product, A Little Confusing
    Comment:
This product gives a lot of information in a small package, especially if you add on the additional 4 locations (anywhere in the US) that are available. The only downside is that it is confusing how to shift to the various information via the five buttons on the front control panel of the unit, which are generically named as alarm/clock functions (Set/+/Snooze/Alarm/Mode). It seems like there could be better controls, since this is a weather station first and a clock/alarm clock second.

       Weather Forecaster
    Comment:
The set up was fairly easy, however one area the directions were unclear in regards to when to put the batteries in the main unit. It has functioned fine, I like the appearance, the size, and the variety of information it gives you. The only thing that has been off is predicting the low temperatures. It consistently says the lows will be about 7 degrees lower than the temperature actually gets down to. On several occasions the low has been over 10 degrees off. I plan on changing the location of the place (a park about 15 miles away) the unit gets it's information from to see if that will make a difference. The percent chance of rain compared to the picture sometimes is also confusing. It will show dark clouds with rain, yet predict only a 10% chance of rain which in Houston that is normal during the summer to have a 10% chance of rain, however if there is any rain it is more of a very short shower with sun for most of the day. Other than those few things, the unit is working great.
