When I was a kid we had one of these thermometers outside the kitchen window. It looked and was shaped exactly like this one. No matter what kind of beating it took from heat waves or winter storms over the years it just kept showing the temperature fairly accurately. Even when the plastic face had gotten so blurry and worn that it was hard to read, the temp was still there. So feeling nostalgic I decided to buy one here. I really don't know if the actual thermometer will be as durable as I remember for I have only had it for two seasons so far. However the other reviewer here that complained about the mounting bracket being junk is absolutely correct. Its not just junk but useless. I got so turned off by Timex being so dam cheap that I am leaving it a premature 1 star rating. The thermometer is now mounted on a bracket that I had to fashion myself. I can remember my father putting up his with a decent quality bracket and never having to touch it again. Don't waste your time. It's not worth it, trust me. Even for the measly price they're asking. When it comes to this thermometer, its true that you really can't go home again.

Comment:
Product was cheap...so I bought it to install outside of a kitchen window. First, the mounting bracket is almost made from aluminum foil. Won't last long enough to install. Installation screws require (honestly) a jeweler's screwdriver to fit the tiny slots. Then, they aren't wood screws....just beat them in with a hammer. Thermo is cheap plastic that won't lock into the mounting bracket holes. Brackets so flexible that the thermo blows out of it when the wind blows. My own fault; cheaper is never better. DO NOT waste your money on this junk.
