We LOVE this meat thermemoter. In responce to the previous rater- When you recieve the thermometer, if you read the instructions, it says that if the units aren't communicating, simply reset both units.
We have a new routine where I put the food in the oven or on the grill. I give my husband the portable unit and he takes it out when the unit beeps at him. We have two children to watch, now we don't have to babyset the food too.

We sent this thermometer to my father in law for Father's day. We had purchased him a Pampered Chef thermometer more than 10 years ago, that he loved, but had finally stopped working. We felt this was a great replacement, since it has the remote monitor, which isn't available through the other company. Of course being Weber (and we own a Weber grill) we felt confident that this would be great! What a disappointment. The thermometer base would not communicate with the monitor at ALL, leaving it worthless. He returned the gift to us and we IMMEDIATELY returned it to the seller for a full refund. My only positive is that it didn't work immediately verses breaking after a month and not being able to get our money back. Hope this helps save someone the same disappointment we had.
