         frustrating
      Comment:
I received a WMR100NA a week ago. I have yet to get the temperature/pressure sensor to communicate with the console. The atomic clock only synced once, other than that it will not sync and time/date has to be set manually. The manuals that come with the unit are very poorly written, and Oregon Scientific's web site docs are only marginally better. I have spoken twice with their tech support people, who have tried to help but no go. I was told that I could return the sensor to OS, so I drove over there and a very friendly and helpful person found another unit for me, we tested it in their lobby and it worked fine. Back home, and it's no longer working. I'm going to try one more round of resetting everything (leave the batteries out for six hours, then install the batteries, then hit the reset buttons). If this doesn't work, it's going back.

The other frustration is the lack of software for MacOS. The only software I've found for it is Weather Display, which is a Windows port and rather poor by Mac standards. A much nicer looking program is Lightsoft Weather Center, which runs on Davis and LaCrosse units.

This is all very disappointing, as this looks to be a good weather station for the money.

      Summary:
         Weak product, weaker product service
      Comment:
I purchased a WMR100 system a couple of years ago when I was living in Massachusetts (it was a deep markdown at a well-known big box store). The system worked pretty well, and it was terrific to have the weather display on the PC to check daily. On the downside, the WMR100 desk console -- essentially the heart of the system -- failed, although this may have been due to a lightning-induced power surge than any inherent fault of the product.

Nonetheless, Oregon Scientific agreed to replace it under warranty if I would ship the old one back to them. I got a return authorization number and sent it off. Weeks and months went by during which I heard nothing (I saw similar comments in other reviews). After e-mailing and being told a customer service rep would get back to me within 48 hours, I tired of waiting and finally telephoned. The fellow on the other end said they were "backed up" but he'd expedite my request.

More weeks went by, and I called again (you have to wait in a telephone queue) and was more insistent. That seemed to work, and, lo and behold, an entirely new WMR100 weather station arrived via UPS a week or so later! On this count, I will give OS high marks for eventually coming through and going well beyond the proverbial extra mile.

I got everything up and running again, pulling just the new console unit out of the box and keeping the remaining old gear in place. Not long after, the rain gauge failed, and nothing I did could get it operating. No problem, I thought. I'll grab the one from the new system, since the warranty was already expired by this time. Well, the new one worked for several months, but it failed as well, possibly done in by the fact that ice had collected in the unit (hey, this was in New England) when the weather turned cold. I ended up tossing them both after spending hours trying to revive them each time with new batteries (extremely inconvenient to replace, especially with the roof unit) and multiple resets. I was finally able to determine that the unit was no longer transmitting a radio signal.

Among major issues I had with the console unit itself was that it never would sync with the WWVB atomic clock signal yet would not take the time from the computer instead (it wanted to do it the other way around!). Also, it was extremely frustrating and confusing to set the time/date etc every time I lost power (I had batteries in it as well, but it didn't seem to retain settings). It is just not "user friendly" in this regard, and the manual was not at all helpful.

I've since moved, leaving the anemometer/temp/RH unit mounted on the roof of our former residence. Perhaps I'll set up the system again here in Delaware, without a rain gauge, which I'd still really like to have.

Bottom line: After the second rain gauge failed, I e-mailed Oregon Scientific to say that I would never purchase another one of its products and why. I got an automated reply that a customer service rep would get right back to me. I'm still waiting.

      Comment:
Nice weather station. It's easy to setup even with lousy instructions. I had trouble getting the rain gauge to work but resetting the unit force it to scan for all the sensors and it's been working ever since. It looks nice on my desk and seems to be very accurate. I recommend this unit.

Very nice instrument that doesn't work
      Comment:
We were unable to get the wind speed component to work although the other components did work. As this was the main reason we wanted it for, we asked for another. Apex Supplier sent another immediately. They were also very good about returning the defective ones. After receiving the second one and not getting it to work either, we emailed Oregon Scientific directly to see if we were doing something wrong. We got one automatic email saying they would get back to us within 4 days, which they never did. Evidently Oregon Scientific is having quality control issues.
