I should have read the product description more carefully before buying this. I assumed the outdoor sensor would relay the temperature and humidity to the base station. It doesn't; it relays the data from the anemometer. My mistake. As I was going through the instruction manual I kept looking for references to temperature and humidity but there aren't any.
Fortunately I have a valid reason to return it. One of the three little cups on the anemometer was broken off when it came out of the box. The anemometer is very cheaply made. This unit probably works OK so I won't give it a really bad rating.

Comment:
Don't be a dope like me and assume that just because it's a "weather station" that it will display something as basic as the temperature. Read the description carefully and you'll see that it only shows barometric pressure and wind speed/direction. This unit is strictly for someone who wants to supplement their existing basic weather station.
On the plus side, the display looks nice and the touch screen works well.

I was having a time getting everything to work ( Computer link, power link, and wireless data ) all at the same time and stay on. At this time i am still having a time with Heavy Weather data link.

Touch Screen Wind Weather Station

Comment:
I bought this unit because I was looking primarily for a wireless wind speed and direction station (it also has barometric pressure). It seems to be working well after a few days. The equipment installation instructions are nil - luckily the La Crosse web site has some information and the tech advice folks are very helpful. The wind direction unit has to be oriented - there are NESW labels on the unit. The transmitter is not "rain proof." Since I didn't want to run wires to a spot under the eves, he suggested covering with a bottle - I used a Snapple bottle! It took a while for the clock to acquire WWV - very accurate time.

Comment:
If this unit is typical of all La Crosse weather stations ( and I think it is) ..it should be sold thru Toys'R'Us ..the label "Professional " is a gross overstatement!
The hardware is all plastic and not very substantial.
The touch screen menus are a pain and the light only goes on for 15 seconds, even when plugged into wall outlet. This requires "exit" prior to seeing any real time data.
The software provided is the most pitiful and unuser friendly I have ever seen for downloading and/or displaying data ..everything is unintuitive
The data sampling ie 5 minute intervals, only provides the instantaneous reading at that time period ..not any of the avg, max/min for that 5 min period ..so you have to set for 1 min intervals and download every day.
I can customize and set the template to read WS as max and gust, but can't figure out how to simultaneously get wind direction on same data set (even tho their generic template shows everything, incl functions that don't exist on this model)
It will function for my purpose of calibrating a wind turbine, but is not the instrument I thought it was going to be
These clowns never adopted USB interconnect and documentation claims that serial adapters for a laptop's USB WON'T work ...duh, get with the program!
