Wall-mounting temperature sensor and transmitterTransmits up to 80 feet; 10-foot probe for monitoring water or soil temperaturesWeather-resistant case and wall mounting screws includedCompatible with most La Crosse weather stations3 by 2-1/4 by 1 inch; 1-year warranty
Product Description Many modern homes have up-to-date clocks or mini weather stations that depend on radio-transmitted data to stay calibrated and current. The La Crosse TX3UP works outdoors by sensing temperature and transmitting that information to an indoor station. It transmits to a base up to 80 feet away. The TX3UP can be added to augment information fed into La Crosse units already in operation. Plus, the 10-foot probe cord helps monitor soil or water temperatures. Remove batteries from base units first and activate sensors; next replace batteries in base units and press no buttons until a display appears. The TX3UP can be used as one of multiple sensors; many La Crosse weather stations allow numbers to be assigned so that it's clear which displayed information is from which sensor. The TX3UP operates on two AAA batteries. Its housing is made of durable, neutral-tone plastic. The sensor works with all La Crosse weather clocks and stations except the Professional Weather Center Series: WS-2010, WS-2210, WS-2310, WS-2315, WS-2510, and WS-7015. For options in wall mounting, two screws and screw anchors and a strong adhesive tape are included. The TX3UP measures 3 by 2-1/4 by 1 inch. La Crosse provides a one-year limited warranty on its sensors. Each sensor comes with a detailed instruction sheet. --Garland Withers

They work but...

Comment:
.. they are failing after 1-2 years. I have replaced mine 1.5 years ago and now this one is gone too. I will look for something more reliable.

Comment:
TX3UP does what it is suppose to as advertised. For a not too technical application I have I get a reliable remote water temperature reading. It appears durable with long battery life. The only improvement I would need for a 5 would be a demand or real time reading. It only updates the LCD display every minute which can make it difficult for mixing for a specific temperature. Nice long probe.

I use it in my koi pond
|
Comment:
I live high in the Rocky Mountains and I have one of the highest Koi ponds in America at 8,500 feet. Winters are cold here so I have to monitor the water temp 24/7. That way I know if my pond heater is working properly. It's a long winter and there have been failures requiring emergency action.
I use this remote temp sensor linked by radio to my Atomic Clock in the family room, which also reads indoor and out door temperature. Instead of using the regular out door sensor, I use this one with the remote probe deep in my Koi pond so even when I can't see the pond for the 4 feet of show (like today), I always know with in one degree what the water temperature is, thus protecting my precious pet Koi (some 22" long and worth a small fortune)from freezing water. They hibernate all winter and come out every spring like little happy campers.

Waste of money

Comment:
This remote sensor is kind of a bust. Either it or its underground (or underwater) probe failed after a couple of months, rendering it useless. Although the main thermometer and wireless remote work most of the time (at their own whim, it sometimes seems), this remote unit was a great disappointment.
