Comment:
Caine pulls no punches. You are thrown immediately into the action as Joanne Baldwin in on the run. We find the back story slowly as she escapes from her fellow Weather Wardens and an unknown entity that seems determine to kill her. Along the way she picks up a hitchhiker, David, who becomes more than just a casual aquaintance. The action is almost too relentless. I kept wondering if this gal was ever going to get a chance to catch her breath. In spite of the constant action you really get a sense of who Joanne is, and why she's making the choices she is. My one complaint would be that the romance turned from lust to love a bit too quickly.

Good, just not great

Comment:
It's a got a pretty good story..interesting, lots of action, variety of characters (with some depth)..but it lacked greatness for me.
I skimmed a lot of the book because I got bored.
For me, Joanne was missing some things in her character development. And the story, and how it unfolded just didn't 'WOW' me.
I prefer her Morganville Vampire series.

Comment:
I'm not going to talk about the plot of the book, as there are other reviews that offer that, and also Amazon provides with a nice plot summary, and I wouldn't want ruining anyone's read by giving too much information, as I think that this book is a better read when you can surprise yourself at everyturn, as I did.
First thouhgt that the weather control and all of this would be a turn off for me, and that made me think white a lot before buying the book. But once I did, and began reading it... amazing. Innovative. I loved it. I like the idea of the wardens and what they do (I don't likew the fact that Joana sees nature as hurtful instead of as a nice mother, but that's the only thing that bothered me in the whole book, and she only says it twice), and I really enjoyed the plot of the book and how the story is told and everything unfolds neatly. I would recommend this book to people who lijkes urban dark fantasy as it's great.

Excellent series!

Comment:
I've read recommendations of the series since I started reading paranormal fiction (started with the Dresden Files) and kept putting it off with the thought a book about some chick that could control the weather did NOT interest me. Boy, was I WRONG! Not only is this some of the best fiction I've ever read, but it's believable, gets better with each book, and is very difficult to put down! As soon as I finished, I wanted to start over again from the beginning.
I recommended this series to anyone who enjoys paranormal fiction. Can't WAIT to read the further adventures of Joann and David!

Comment:
In this day and age of many different types of fantasy the idea of special people being able to control the weather is unique. Ms. Caine is able to allow the story to flow and also able to keep me guessing about the deep dark secret of just why main character is on the run. Character development is good but my problem is I'm just not that wild about Joanne Baldwin. Story line was moving along nicely when the Djinn steps in and all of a sudden the story turns into a harlequin romance. I bought the first three books and so far the second book is starting out like a Danielle Steel novel, and I hate Danielle Steel! Hopefully I can get through this book without much nausea and last book will improve. Unfortunately I will not be buying any more of Ms. Caine's books.
